ABOUT SOCCABILITY
Many people ask what Soccability is and what it does. Soccability aims to provide free football sessions for all children and young adults with additional needs, disabilities and/or live with disadvantages. These structured sessions cater for all abilities, with FA qualified and DBS checked coaches providing their time as volunteers.
Imagine a world where all children, young people and even adults, regardless of their abilities, could enjoy playing football, without worrying about being judged or their level of skill? Where there is no pressure? A place that they can make friends and express themselves.
This is the dream of many children with ASD, Sensory issues, ADHD and physical disabilities and luckily for some of these youngsters, this world is a reality, thanks to Soccability sessions held weekly. Everyone with additional needs are welcome, regardless of age or gender, and no disability is a barrier to taking part in a "kick about" in the fresh air.

Members story
JAMIE (8)
Jamie has been attending Witham Soccability for 6 months and has been making so much progress. Jamie has "Waardenburg syndrome" which cause profound deafness, he also has sensory processing disorder, developmental delay and anxiety disorder. Jamie had always loved football but he couldn’t settle into mainstream football and only felt comfortable at home with myself, although he was desperate to play with others as part of a team. We are so happy we found Witham Soccability, the relaxed, friendly approach of the coaches and other members has helped Jamie with his confidence so much and he can’t wait to go every week. His new confidence means he is now willing to give so many more things a try and it's mainly down to Soccability and the way they gently push him out of his comfort zone each week.

CALEB (13)
After attending training sessions at Soccability Caleb has found a new confidence and belief in himself. We see the change in him both at home and school. This new belief enabled him to try out and become a member of a mainstream youth football team. As a valued member of his team, this season he boosts 4 Player of the Matches, 3 assists and 5 goal whilst playing at centre back. Without Soccability@WTFC he would not be experiencing the opportunity
he currently is.

Leon (17)
“I don't think many people know the story behind Leon's journey at Soccability. Everyone said the shy, disassociating boy would not return, after his first visit almost 3 years ago. But each week we returned, with some resistance from Leon. Now looking at him, how he is now joining in, scoring goals and interacting with all the coaches and players, how excited he is to go every week. It is amazing, and has truly changed his life. I know it’s a bit cliché, but I don't think people really understand how Soccability has changed children’s everyday lives, not just on the football pitch.”

" At Soccability we are all volunteers focused on making a difference to the lives of those with additional needs, learning difficulties and disabilities, through sport and exercise "
